URGENT 7.5 hrs left to raise funds for the puppies final deadline 9pm 1/2/09

We are sure everyone has seen the following bulletin and blog. Our transporters extended our deadline until 9pm tonight to raise the funds to get all the puppies on board. They shortened their trip and told other clients that they would have to adjust their dates to accommodate SSP. So, we now have 10.5 hrs to raise the funds needed to move the puppies to safety.

We tried very hard not to post for funds until after the new year but we have come up on a crisis situation. We have 50 Puppy Promises puppies who must get to their rescue. We were hoping they would be safe until next week or the week after but the owners are tired of them and foster homes are scarce at this time of the year. Please help us help the wee ones get on the road to their rescues.

To hop on the van each pup will need $50. This pays for vaccinations, transport, their mama's spay and the spaying and neutering of all other unaltered pets in the household.
One household has 5 unaltered pets and another 9, can you imagine if they all give birth?!?!?!?!

NEED $2500
RECEIVED: $492
STILL NEED: $2008

Please PAYPAL your TAX DEDUCTIBLE donation to fundraising@savingshelterpets.com or simply click on the link at the bottom of this bulletin

As always EVERY donation is EXTREMELY appreciated and we thank-you in advance for helping us to save the lives of these puppies

PS--In one photo there is the White Bull Dog mama dog who is on a chain :-(:-( We already have a rescue lined up for her if her owners will sign her over to us. We will keep everyone updated on her. We are very upset that she is on the chain but please know we will do not want to leave her behind and we will work on rescuing her.

Heartworm boy needs a little help

Michelangelo has had a pretty rough start to life. He was stuck in the pound for eight months before SSP found out about him. Heartworm positive, he was ineligible for private adoption, and so he waited, and waited. The shelter staff and volunteers raised the funds for his Heartworm treatment and we found him a foster home to recover in. All he needs is enough funds to cover his health certificate/travel expenses and medicine for a double ear infection.

If you can help Michelangelo recover over the holidays, please send your tax deductible contribution to fundraising@savingshelterpets.com or click the banner at the bottom of the bulletin. Thank you to all of our loyal supporters, please crosspost, it is one of the easiest ways to help!

Tissue Warning! Pup needs help!

ALL FUNDS RAISED!!! Thank you to all of our supporters who have, not only saved another pup, but also made a little girl's Christmas Wish come true!!!

It has been a crazy day today for our Puppy Promises Manager. The phone has been ringing off the hook for more pups who want to leave on the Home for the Holidays van.

First, a litter of 11 puppies were found in a ditch near a river. Then another litter of puppies were found abandoned on the side of the road - a whole plastic tote of puppies whose mother was hit by a train, orphaned at only 2 and a half weeks.

Then there was a call that was not like the others. One of our vets was on the phone. He had a sick little girl in his office who had brought in a 6 week old black puppy. Someone had thrown the puppy out of a car as they drove past her house. She asked her parents if she could keep the little lab mixed pup and give her a home.

The heartbroken parents explained that with the ongoing leukemia treatments and medical bills for her, their daughter, they knew they could not afford to also take care of a puppy. They could not afford the treatment for the puppy's ringworm and other infections. Also because the little girl is undergoing chemo she can not be exposed to germs and diseases, even from a little puppy.

Standing in the vet's office, with a bandanna where her hair used to be, this little girl's only request for Christmas is that her puppy finds a good loving home. She is very worried about her puppy as the poor little thing has already had such a rough start and she did not want the puppy going to the shelter where the chances of a home are slim and none. Now it is up to us, the vet is asking us if we can help. Can we raise enough funds to help this puppy and give a sick little girl her Christmas wish?

Total Needed: $650

Donations: $650

Still Need: $0

Many thanks to all of our supporters who consistently give from their hearts to all the pets we save together. Please note donations for this puppy should be marked Christmas Wish. Remember, all donations are tax deductible, please crosspost!

Frisco books - Holiday Sale!

http://www.savingshelterpets.com/index_frisco.html

We are extremely pleased to continue our fundraiser with a children's book sale *Frisco Finds a Forever Family*, written by seven-year-old author Ansley Carol Burnette. Frisco's story will touch the heart of any animal lover, and is a fabulous and fun way to teach children the importance of responsible pet ownership!

The author shares a special connection to the
Saving Shelter Pets family. Ansley and her mother Dawn volunteer at our partner rescue group in Blairsville, GA. Their rescue will also receive a portion of the proceeds from all books sold. We are all very proud of Ansley's dedication to this project to benefit the animals, and we know you will be too!

Books purchased through our website benefit Saving Shelter Pets (approx $7/book sold), and make a wonderful addition to any child's book collection. And they make *great* gifts for grandkids, neighbors, nieces and nephews! Why not also purchase a copy to donate to your local library?

As always, Saving Shelter Pets appreciates your support of our fundraising programs, so that we can continue to help pets in need. We are grateful to have supporters like you working with us to make a difference for the animals!!

Dekalb Dogs: Will they make home for the holidays?

***SAFE!!!! Thank you to all who donated, the dogs are safely tucked in at their foster home and will be soon on their way to forever homes! Your support means so much, not just to us, but to all the lives we save together.***

There are three dogs at Dekalb who have been waiting for MONTHS to find their forever home. One of our rescues has agreed to take all three! Unfortunately, we found out on short notice, so in order to make the required quarantine before the bus leaves, all three must be out of the shelter before close tomorrow.

We can make the deadline with your help! Each dog needs $250 to cover vetting, boarding, and travel expenses for a total of $750. In addition, we don't even have names for these babies. The first donor of $50 or more, per dog can choose the dog's new name. Please spread the word, these guys have been waiting so long, they deserve to make it home for the holidays!

Male beagle, sweet boy needs a home!

Male terrier mix, submissive boy wants to go home!

DAHLIA: Female spitz mix, pretty girl has been waiting FOREVER!

Total Needed: $750

Donations: $750

Still Need: $0

As soon as all the funds are raised our volunteer can go spring these pups! We only have until 4pm tomorrow, Tuesday to make the van. Please remember, all donations are tax deductible, and greatly appreciated. Thank you to all of our supporters, we could not save any of THEM without all of YOU!
