HOORAY Everyone arrived safely

HOORAY!!!
All the dogs an puppies on Transport 54 have been safely delivered to their rescues.  Everyone has been bathed, fed and they are now settling in to relax after the trip.  Thank-you to everyone who donated, reposted, cross posted, worried, prayed and thought good thoughts.  Because of every single person this transport became a reality for the dogs and pups

We do have three passengers who did not make the trip  Romeo from Heard is HW+ :-(:-( Madeline from DeKalb had the sniffles and Felicity was not spayed in time :-(  We could not let her travel without time to recuperate from her surgery.  Madeline and Felicity will travel on Transport 55 and Romeo will travel as soon as he completed his HW treatments. ( We are accepting donations for her $450 treatment)

Here are some familiar faces
Goldie from Heard

Betsy from Heard

PUPPIES EVERYWHERE! 30 Hours to raise their sponsorships

HOLY COW!!!! It is raining puppies in Georgia. We have 23 puppies who have been cleared to travel (correct age, completed vaccinations and good health) and we have other litters signing up for Puppy Promises on a daily basis. Thank goodness we will be spaying and neutering every single pet in the PP pups household so we can put an end to the cycle of litter after litter.

Right now we need to raise $1035 in bus fare and vetting money for the 23 who can travel this week. We need to pay the vets and the drivers so the deadline for the wee ones is 6pm Tuesday July 29th

Please paypal your donation to fundraising@savingshelterpets.com and please note that it is for the puppies

Every single dollar helps and every single donation is tax deductible.

Here are some of the puppies who are counting on your support to get them to their new lives:

Six Shelter Dogs Need YOUR Help!!!

Six Dogs in High-Kill Shelter Need YOUR Help!!!

The Heard dogs from last week's fundraising effort are all safely ensconced in their boarding facilities YAY!!!! THANK-YOU!!!!

Sadly, there are 6 more Georgia dogs that need our help or they will be euthanized. We have been given until Thursday at 9am to get the dogs to safety. There is one who is already past her pts date and horribly one of the dogs we wanted to help was pts (we are not sure why it happened but we are all devastated). We can not get these six out of the shelter without funds for their vetting, boarding and transport.

6 dogs x $280 per dog = $1680 needed to save six lives

Every single donation is tax deductible and is truly appreciated.

Arno - his chances of being adopted at DeKalb are slim and none because he is just a fluffy Heinz 57 dog. He is very sweet and sat nicely to have his photo taken

Huckleberry is a little guy with a great deal to say so he is not really having any luck being adopted. Doxies can not help it they like to chat.

Pitchfork festival –– a success!

Saving Shelter Pets had a wonderful (but very muddy!) weekend at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago July 19–20th.

A huge thank you goes out to everyone who volunteered at the festival so that we could have a booth. Our volunteers are the best!! :)

Besides the rain on Saturday morning, it was a
great weekend – good music, nice weather, lots of veggie food vendors, and so many wonderful people stopping by the SSP booth! The generous folks at Pitchfork will also be making a donation of $500–$1500 depending on how many volunteers we recruited for the weekend.

Some festival highlights:
  • Over 100 people signed up for our mailing list! Everyone was SO positive about SSP and what we're doing. :)
  • We received over $472 in donations! Yay!!
  • Oscar the dog came along with us....that cute mug of his drew in all the passers-by! :) He was also the Twister champion at the booth next to us (Open Books - a wonderful literacy program – definitely check them out!)
  • Our "8 Reasons to Spay/Neuter" poster definitely made quite an impression! So many people stopped by to read the poster and learn more about why spay/neuter is THE solution to the pet overpopulation program. (Get your own copy of this poster – or buy the t-shirt – at our CafePress store)
Thank you again to all our volunteers, and we hope you will join us again next July! :)
