Gas Shortage in Georgia

The Bad News:
Transport #58 should be leaving this week...should be. Due to the gas shortage in Georgia the van will not be able to leave as planned, the departure has been pushed out a week in hopes that the gas situation will improve.

The Good News:
We now have an extra week to raise the funds for the puppies' bus fare!

Since we have been granted an extra week, it has been decided that not only will donations toward the puppies be entered in the $100 Visa gift card drawing, but also donations for Scruffy's heartworm treatment will gain an entry in the drawing. For each donation of $10 or more we will put your name in the hat for the gift card. Every donor will receive a "Puppy Kisses" banner code for the web.

Scruffy's total treatment will be $450, and he is well on his way, with $291 raised so far. Scruffy needs $159 to complete his heartworm treatment.

Transport #58 full of Puppy Promises Puppies van total is $2350. Donations picked up a bit in the past two days and they have raised $685. The Puppies need $1656 for their tickets to ride.

The extended deadline for entry into the drawing is midnight on October 7th. Please donate and cross-post to spread the word. Every one of these babies deserves a ticket to ride. On behalf of Scruffy and the Puppies, THANK YOU for your support!!!

Puppy Promises Pups: New England or Bust!

Puppy Promises is an intervention program created to save puppies from exposure to disease in a shelter environment by contracting with their caregiver to quarantine the pups prior to transport. The Puppy Promises program pays for the pups vaccinations and de-wormer as well as the spay/neuter of ALL unaltered pets in the pups' home.

Transport #58 is scheduled to go out soon, and the only passengers this time around are Puppy Promises Pups. However, they still need their bus fare before they can be cleared to for travel. There are 53 pups hoping for a ride, each pup needs $50 bus fare.

Without full funding, not everyone will have a seat on the bus. A generous donor has provided a $100 pre-paid Visa gift card to be given away at the end of this fundraiser. For each donation of $10 or more we will put your name in the hat for the gift card. Every donor will receive a "Puppy Kisses" banner code for the web.

53 Puppy Promises Pups waiting to go home
$50 Bus Fare per Pup
$2650 Needed for all passengers to board the bus

Knowing that each pup will make is safely home: Priceless!

The deadline for everyone to make the bus is Midnight on September 30th. Please donate and cross-post to spread the word. Every one of these babies deserves a ticket to ride. Thank you for your support!!!

A happy update on two special SSP pups....

We just received a happy update on two SSP pups from one of our receiving rescues...and we just had to share! :)

"Sushi" (now named "Sasha") is a black and tan corgi mix rescued by SSP this past July. Her brother "Dino" originally came from SSP's Puppy Promises program last year. You may remember him as being featured on the cover of our 2008 calendar! :)

Both are doing wonderfully in their new home in Connecticut!

Speaking of calendars....stay tuned for info on the 2009 calendar coming very soon! .....Dino will be one of the featured dogs! :)

Short on funds but not short on love

Round two of our giftcard giveaway fell short of the $2000 goal so there was no drawing. We did raise $700 to help out our medically needy doggies. THANK YOU to all who donated!!!

Hazel and her boys are well on the road to recovery. We will get some updated pictures from the boys' foster mom shortly, but here's what she has to say about her new charges.

Hazel's boys look GREAT!!! They are SO much bigger then when they came out of the shelter. I'm struggling to take some good pictures because they are on the move! I'll try to get some good ones when they run themselves down and it's time for a puppy nap. I'm so thankful they have pulled through, they are pure sunshine. Thank everyone who made this possible, these pups are absolutely ADOREABLE!!!

Saving Shelter Pets - Gift Card Giveaway, Round Two!!!

Round two has begun, our new goal is $2000 and up for grabs this time is a $50 Visa gift card.  We have received a couple donations so far, and as of noon Tuesday we still need $1457 to make this happen!

Deadline for raising these funds is MIDNIGHT EDT Thursday (Sept 11) - so ask your friends to please help us too!  We must meet the goal to give away the gift card!

Here's what's been happening...

Over the last few weeks, Saving Shelter Pets (SSP) has been hit hard with unexpected medical expenses for our rescue animals, and we are REALLY pressed for funds right now.  To help us recover a bit, we are featuring a "Gift Card Giveaway" fundraiser for the next week or so. Each person who donates $10 or more during this fundraiser will receive a one-of-a-kind web banner for you to proudly display on your MySpace or FaceBook profile, Blogger page, etc. Additionally, if SSP meets our goal of $2000, one lucky donor will also win a $50 Visa gift card.

The Cause:  This fundraiser will help many needy dogs, including one very special family - Hazel and her pups. Only four of Hazel's pups survived parvo, and they are slowly recovering.  The vet bill for this family has already surpassed the $2000 mark, more than we EVER could have imagined!  Please, please help us give this sweet family a better life!

Poor Hazel is also Heartworm positive - which means more treatment for her and more bills for us!  However, despite her significant health setbacks, Hazel is a great mommy, she loves people, small children, cats and other dogs.  SSP wants to treat her and get her to rescue - and we need your help to do it!!!

Please consider helping Hazel and her family by donating through Paypal to fundraising @ savingshelterpets.com [remove spaces] ....or simply click the link at the bottom of this message.

Every single donation is extremely appreciated and is TAX DEDUCTIBLE.  Many thanks to our anonymous supporter who donated the gift cards for this fundraising challenge, and also to everyone who has donated to support us so far!!

Here are a few pictures of Hazel and her family. Yes, it's hard to believe these pups all came from the same momma! =o)
