Gearing up for Transport !

As we gear up for the next transport there are a few dogs who need to complete their vet work so they can board the bus. All four dogs are owner surrenders, they have escaped exposure to disease in the pound, but they will still need medical care before they can head out.

Knick Knack

These four babes each need $225 to cover their shots, spay/neuter, Heartworm test, boarding, and bus fare. They are so close to freedom they can almost smell it. We have one week to get their vetting completed so they can board the bus. The deadline is midnight Thursday, Nov 6th. Please help spread the word and crosspost for these sweethearts, they really need their tickets to ride!

Total Needed: $900

SSP Online Auction Fundraiser Starts MONDAY!!!

Saving Shelter Pets is holding an online auction to support our programs and replenish our medical fund for the animals we rescue. Many of you have generously donated goods and services for this event, and now it’s time for the fun to begin! Our goal is to raise $2,500 and we need your support. This event will be an enjoyable and exciting way to help SSP, and have a chance to win some very cool items at the same time!

To browse and bid on our wide-ranging assembly of exceptional auction items, please visit our event website at http://www.savingshelterpets.cmarket.com/. There you will find jewelry (including a diamond pendant), prints and paintings, clothing, electronics, pet products, get-away experiences, and more!

While you’re browsing the site, be sure to spread the word to all of your friends and family using the “Refer Friends” feature on the home page. More participants means increased bidding action, more fun, and more help for the animals!

Atlanta area residents will find some auction items targeted specifically for them. We’re hoping for a big local turnout from our friends in this area, to show your support for Georgia animals in need.

The auction event begins Monday, October 27, and runs through Friday, November 21. We will be adding some items during the course of the event, so check in often to browse the catalog. All proceeds from this event will go directly to our programs to help pets in need. Please join us in making this SSP’s best fundraiser yet!

Dekalb bullies: Mom and Tuffy

*****ALL FUNDS RAISED!!! THANK YOU TO ALL OUR SUPPORTERS!!!*****
Tilly and Faline are happily checked in at the vet's office. They were very excited to be free of the shelter and both girls will be getting a bath shortly! Our volunteer sent this to us when she got home from the vet's office:

"When I stopped by Dekalb A/C today to pick up Tilly and Faline, I was struck by this little family. These two look like AmStaff mixes, but are listed as Pit so are not eligible for adoption to the public. Mother and son are very sweet and willing to please. Mom is about knee high with the blocky head and broad shoulders, son has the same shape, but he is still a young puppy. They have been waiting and waiting since the beginning of September for rescue, and are favorites of the ACO. We have until Saturday to find them somewhere to go. LOTS of kisses out of both dogs and they really wanted to play with my 4 year old son. These two really deserve to get out, the bullies never stand a chance."

Shortly after, we received this picture of Mom and Tuffy.

After many rapid emails and phone calls, we have found a place for these two to go, but we still need to raise their funds in order to bail them out of Dekalb. Mom and Tuffy each need $200 for vetting and boarding. If you love a bully or are loved by a bully, please consider donating a little for this family.

Total Needed: $400
Donations: $370
Still Need: $30

Two Dekalb girls are BEGGING for a chance!

***All funds raised for both girls!!! Thank you to all of our supporters for making this happen!***

We haven't had much room on our last few transports for adult dogs, but there are two little girls from Dekalb who would LOVE to catch a ride on the next bus. We have until Friday to raise their funds so we can go bail them out.

Faline

This sweet girl has been waiting for a MONTH to find her forever home. No one is looking for her, we are her last chance. The clock is ticking and she needs out NOW! Faline needs $280 for her vet care and boarding expenses.

Tilly

Look at this sweet face! How could someone neglect such a sweet girl? They did, she had an embedded collar that had grown into her neck 1.5 inches. Now that the case has been settled she can leave the pound, but she needs out and into a loving home. Please help her get the second chance she so deserves!!! Tilly needs $300 for her vet care and boarding expenses.

Total Needed: $580

Donations: $580

Still Need: $0

The Deadline to raise their funding is Friday!!! Please spread the word so we can get these girls on to their new lives. They have been given a reprieve but we are their only hope!

We just can't pass this up!

***ALL FUNDS RAISED!!!  Thank you so much to ALL of our supporters, we cannot do this without you!!!***
As you may remember, all of the passengers on our last transport were members of our Puppy Promises Program. Folks are still signing up litters of puppies faster than we can put together a new transport van.

In order to get all these fur kids off to safety, we've been granted a reduced rate on another rescue's bus! We have 20 Puppy Promises Pups who hope to get a ride. Each pup needs ONLY $25 to cover their bus fare as the rest of their trip is already sponsored.

The Deadline for travel is Friday October 17th. If we can raise the funds, all our current pups will get a ticket to ride. 20 puppies at $25 each, the pups need $500 to hitch a ride north.

Total Needed: $500
Donations: $500
Still Need: $0

Please help us take advantage of this kind offer, we would love to see the babies travel north now than wait until we have a van full. The nights are getting colder in Georgia, and the pups would like a warm home to snuggle in up north. Please crosspost to spread the word. Thank you all for your support!!!!!

Transport 58, Pup-date

We have shown you many pictures of the puppies hoping for a ride on Transport 58. There are so many cute faces, but what you may not know is, although the puppies are all signed up for our Puppy Promises Program, they are by no means safe, yet.

Some owners are very thankful to be a part of this program, and do everything they can to make sure the puppies stay safe and healthy until they leave. Some puppies are not so lucky.

Our program focuses on rural areas where it is not uncommon for people to "dispose" of their pets. Even after signing up the puppies, some people have allowed them to run loose in wooded areas, or to roam the streets. Puppies have been lost through antifreeze poisoning, taken by wild animals, and in one case all three puppies in one litter were "accidentally" run over by the owner's car.

These babies are not just hoping for a bus ticket, but their survival could depend on it. If you have not donated already, please do so. Each donation of $10 or more will be entered into our $100 Visa gift card drawing, and each donor receives a "Puppy Kisses" banner for their webpage/myspace page.

To who already donated, on behalf of all the Puppy Promises Puppies,THANK YOU so very much. Without your generous support, we could not give these pups their happy endings or bright new beginnings. Please continue to crosspost this bulletin, so many babies depend on it.

Total Cost: $2350
Donations: $915
Needed: $1435

NOTE: Scruffy received several generous donations yesterday and today.
He is now FULLY FUNDED and ready to start his Heartworm treatment!!! Thank you to all who donated to give this boy a new life!
